REFURB & EXTENSION

Internal Refurbishment 2020

The internal refurbishment of Ridgewood Village hall was completed by Eternal Build in September  2020 at an approximate cost of c£90K with monies raised from hall hire, donations, community  fundraising and grants. It has brought Ridgewood Village Hall into the 21st Century with modern  facilities and is part of a longer -term extension plan for the community hall.

With the help of many local businesses, the hall was completely renovated with new modern toilet  facilities and a brand -new state of the art kitchen. A new meeting room was created within the hall  which can be divided into two smaller rooms with the use of a wooden sliding door which makes it  ideal to hire for small meetings, study groups or art & craft groups with a kitchenette allowing hire  separate to the main hall.

The main hall floor was stripped and renovated and new bespoke ballet barres were made for the  hall walls with upgraded lighting and fire alarm system.

New storage areas were also created at ground level within the building to house table tennis tables  and chairs and tables for public use. Automatic lighting systems and front doors have increased  security when the hall is in use.

Access for wheelchairs, pushchairs and those needing walking aids was improved by rebuilding the  original access slope and increasing the entrance door width and easy access enabled with a new  touch keypad.

A tarmac path now leads from the side entrance across the recreation ground to the entrance slope  and car park, making access to and from the hall in all weathers fully accessible.

The Ridgewood village Hall management committee are now looking to raise funds to complete the  planned extensions to provide a larger meeting room, second kitchenette (to provide refreshments  to the recreation ground), storage at ground level and an extension to the length of the main hall.
